Creating a transaction
Start tracking a deal from listing to close
Every deal you're working lives as a transaction in Backhouse. There are two ways to start one.
Ask your assistant
Tell it what you've got: "Set up a purchase for 412 Maple with the Hendersons as buyers." It creates the transaction, adds the people, and asks about anything it's missing. If you forward the contract, it pulls the details, price, parties, and key dates, straight off the PDF.
Create one yourself
In the Transactions view, click New transaction. You'll give it:
- Title. Usually the property address.
- Type. Purchase, sale, lease, or rental.
- Stage. Where the deal sits in your pipeline. Stages are configurable per workspace.
- People. Buyers, sellers, agents, and anyone else on the deal, pulled from your contacts.
What a transaction holds
Once it exists, the transaction is home base for the deal. Terms like sale price and earnest money, key dates, notes, documents, and everyone involved. Your assistant keeps it current as things land in your inbox, and you can edit anything directly.
